Similarities between "Invasion" (original & remake) and Zombie films

In both titles the main fear is of an entity invading the human body and turning it into something surreal and frightening, this is exactly the same as in zombie films. Usually a virus will enter the human body and turn them into a flesh-hungry reanimated corpse that everyone around is scared of.

Similar to this is the body-snatchers, they are an unknown entity that become the human they infiltrate, in contrast the snatcher is a virus in the remake but a strange life-form in the original. Despite this the principal still applies, it is still a strange being taking a person over completely.

Another similarity is the drama, there is usually a friend of the main character(s) who stays behind or disappears for a while and comes back as an invaded body shortly after, much the the protagonist's horror which causes a lot of remorse and sadness on their behalf.

My final comparison is of the plot-lines that these films follow, they all start off with everything as it should be. It will then later transform into a few disappearances and strange goings-on, shortly after they protagonists stumble across evidence of the strange entity and run from it in fear. It is usually a futile battle and almost always ends up in something horrifically bad happening to the main characters.

In conclusion the "Invasion" films are very similar to zombie films and follows the same basic layout as the traditional zombie flick. The fear is the same as is the fight against it.
